In Progress, coming up, etc, etc

IMG_1088
An In-progress Anna Ditkoff and beaded star ornaments!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I took the day off and didn't do anything but some light cooking, star making, TV watching, turkey eating and bubbly drinking. It was nice, but today is back to work.

With the rest of the holiday season quickly approaching, you may be wondering, what festivities await next month for Fitzbomb? I will fill you in with an abbreviated list...

Thursday December 3rd: Illuminate/Monument lighting
illuminate
By now you may, or may not, be sick of hearing me talk about drawing, drawing, drawing. Either way, you really should come see the fruits of my labor at this event.

Later that same night I may be going to the Holly Montag/ Stacey Hall event "MTV's The Hills Takes Over Bourbon St," or I may just wait to meet them the next day at their photo sesh... depends on what I feel like putting myself through that night.

Friday December 4th: The Premier of Moth: a film by Hilton Carter (pictured below)
Hilton
There will be photos from this event as well as an interview with Hilton to follow.

Also that night is Dave Hardy's Thesis Celebration happy hour at the Windup Space and Sarah Hammond's show:Paintings from France. Sarah will be showing at Unicorn Studio @ 626 S. Broadway from 6-9pm.

I'm running out of time and I need to get back to work, so here's one last even for now (I haven't even mentioned Binge:a Holiday Art Sale on December 12th yet!!!!!)

Saturday December 19th: Sal Bando at the Windup Space

Be there or be square.

More Studio Shots

Two of the walls in my studio look like this. A former owner of the house built this room to be a Buddhist prayer room.

This is Gunther. He sits on a blanket by my feet while I work. He's a nice little cat-dog.

In Context

1
Above: Artwork in context at Shine Collective

What you may, or may not, know about me is that I feel like a total slug if I'm not being productive. For example, if I sleep late and spend the day watching TV it makes me feel like I'm going to d-i-e. Fortunately, I haven't really had a choice in the matter lately. As much as I think that I wish I could take a break right now, I know that when I'm busy is when I feel best. J S, just sayin'.

Anyway, I was really psyched when I checked my email today and found out that I have another show lined up for next year. Somewhere round about May through September I will be showing portraits at the gallery at Univerity of Baltimore. It pays to stay... bizz-ay!

Back to work!

From the Studio

Here I am around 3am after a long day in the studio.

Luckily, it's a nice, comfortable space. Here are a few shots from the "buddha room."

Illuminate, Lovers!

illuminate
oops! the time listed above is wrong! The event actually runs from 6:30-9:30pm

Hey Gorgeous-

If you are around town on Thursday December 3rd, you should DEF come to this event! In addition to food, booze, glamorous vendors (like Shine) & dance-dance music, you can see my new drawings! I will be exhibiting some older work as well as a dozen brand-spanking-new drawings. Let's call it retrospective 2009...

Later that night I will be meeting with Holly Montag and Stacey "the bartender" of the Hills and will be photographing Holly to be part of my portrait series!

Peace & see ya later. I got drawin to do.

Baby Puppy never disappoints.

Last night I took a little break from working to see Sal Bando, the Squaaks, Surf Blood and Art Brut. I saw stuff like this.

Good Night,

New In-Progress Drawing: Linda Bernstein

IMG_0915
For some reason this photo makes Linda's face look a little elongated. It's also really dark. It's late. Still work to do...

New In-Progress Drawing: Ashira Barbosa

IMG_0825
It's 4am. That's quitting time... Today I got up at 10:30, drew until 3, went to work, got home at midnight, and drew until just now. Oh, sugar free red bull...

This piece is getting there. Still lots more curls to draw and I'll be smoothing out that odd bump that I put on the left-hand-side jawline (didn't really notice that I did that until I saw the image on here.) Still, not bad...

Hopefully I can go get some sleep now.

Sweet dreams,
Fitz

What's New Babalou

IMG_0707 *********This little stillife was taken with my awesome new camera that I'm in love with.**********

Once the ball gets rolling...

Last I was here I was getting ready for Portraits and Playgrounds to open at Shine Collective. Now, all of a sudden, I am working on completing 12 new drawings drawn/photographed/framed/hung w/in the next 19 days. Ummmmmmmmmmm..........
Yowsahs!

For this round of my portrait project I am lucky enough to be drawing the gorgeous and glamorous staff of the Baltimore City Paper. That def makes this assignment a little easier.

This means: you probably won't see me until December 3rd when the new pieces are unveiled at Illuminate, an annual invitational art exhibit held in Baltimore's Professional Arts Building. It's going to be a blast. Deets to follow......

I'm so TIRED. TTY soon,
Fitz

Holla-Ween

4
Halloween sure was fun this year...

5
We started the night at Christopher Graham's house. Karma Ward and Joe Conner arrested people like Sarah Hammond. Joe's nipple appeared to be healthy, but I think Shelley Hannon-Smith was over it.

7
Chris Calabrese, Cris Cowan and Shelley are dead. Hot.

9
Melissa Thompson is feelin it.

8
Christopher was a sexy boxer.

6
We are pretty cute.

2
Next we went to Natasha's party where wholly unholy things happened.

10
Last stop Rocket to Venus. We ran into Helmand the buzzing bee.

3
C-cow says, "Peace y'all!"

~THE END~

Press on the Shine Blog

The most flattering gesture in the art world has to be the portrait. Recently, three Shine staffers were inducted into Erin Fitzpatrick’s Baltimore Portrait Project and yes- we are deeply flattered. New York’s hip social scene has their Elizabeth Peyton, but we have an art star of our own and she’s captured our hi-fi/wi-fi moment in time, elegantly lo-fi and beautifully raw. Erin dumped the Mac for graphite & paper and the results are outstanding...
