Tensday Is Over. She's Serious.

1

Emily Rabbit has been throwing Tensday at the Otto Bar on Wednesday nights for a long time. A long time. Last night was the last one. She's serious. She said it on FB and twitter.

6

I stopped by for a hot second to take some photos. I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't stay long, so I only got a few. (I don't think I'll be able to rest/relax/throw-down/ho-down, until my drawings are done. J.s. just sayin'.)

5

The sisters Rabbit were there and totally cute as expected.

4

E'ry body!

3

Who doesn't like this guy? Dan Evans is a real nice buddy!

2

Caitlin knows what's up. Her pool partner was trying to pick a fight with me over what kind of camera I use. I was all like, "um, that's cool, bud. I don't care. Maybe you're right." Then I went home.

THE END

Interview: Christopher Graham; Charm City Photography

m

Christopher was one of my portrait subjects back in November 2009 (Unfortunately, due to finishing this portrait at the last minute, I only have this crappy cell phone photo of the still in-progress piece.)

IMG_3375

Fitz: What inspires your work?

Christopher: I am inspired by the idea that my work asks questions - I am a social person, almost too easily influenced by others... and I like to take some of that power back and throw it out there in the form of images. Lately I'm doing portraits based on iconic imagery, both spiritual and religious... sometimes people that I don't know see these photographs and wonder who the man is behind the curtain, almost like "Who the fuck does he think he is?" messing with these idols' image, making them more modernized and fashionable. Some people just find them appealing and interesting and that is fine, too - I would like to say that I don't care what people think but then why would I have shows?

7

F:What/who is totally hot right now?

C:I think the Baltimore music scene is hot right now. I really want to start photographing more local bands in provocative or original ways - because Baltimore itself is unique and wonderful and right now the music we are throwing out there as a city is rockin'. I want to jump in on that - when I lived in LA I photographed bands exclusively and I miss it.

6

F: You've been NY and LA. Do you think you'll stay in Baltimore?

C: If I say I'm definitely staying in Baltimore, I'll move within a month. I'm a brat like that so I'm just rolling with it. Right now I'm really happy and I have a great setup, and I LOVE my friends. Also, I'm in love with someone here.

5

F: Tell me something glamorous.

C:I'm about to get on a 40 foot yacht that is owned by the woman who used to babysit me when I was born. We are gonna drink champagne and eat takeout from the Charleston and possibly do some nudes in the middle of the bay even if it's raining. I don't consider myself to be a 'glamorous' person generally, but you asked this question at the perfect time!

1

F: What's coming up for you this summer?

C: I just started doing forensic light source photography for Domestic Violence Victims at Northwest Hospital. I had to learn how to use this crazy light source that has different wavelengths that can document bruises and injuries before they develop to the plain eye. These photos can be shown in court as evidence before these women return to their abusive boyfriends or husbands and are too scared shitless to testify in court.

I have also started doing product photography, starting with a local vegan mineral cosmetics company.

On the Fine Art front, I think I will be having a show at Brewers Art sometime this summer, but it hasn't been confirmed. I was also asked to be one of the featured artists at City Paper's Illuminate Party in October, but that hasn't really been confirmed either. I have a bunch of shoots lined up to continue with my iconic portraiture series, so hopefully I get a really good body of work together. PS will you model for me? Historically, prejudice and suspicion has always greeted the redhead, along with the belief that they were fiery and hot-tempered. I could get a seriously good couple of shots of you with that in mind.

Thanks for the interview, Christopher. Check out more of his work at Charm City Photography

New In-Progress Drawing: Russell Hite

IMG_3361

The end is near! I have 5 drawings left to go in this set! I'm really looking forward to starting some paintings when this group of drawings is through. I'll be looking for models...

The above drawing is Russell Hite. I told Elena Johnston to bring a cute friend to the photo shoot and he/she could be part of the series. She picked a good one!

Today I'm off to UMUC to pick up some art that was exhibited earlier this year, then I'm back to draw and wait for my gorgeous new art books to be delivered (they are going to get me in the mind set to paint.) I think tomorrow I will try to get out for a bit and photograph the last tensday @the Otto Bar. We'll see. Tomorrow is another day...

Later taters,
-Fitz
p.s. The opening for this show will be on Thursday May 20th. Details to come!

New Dreawing: Elena Johnston

IMG_3348

14 down. 6 to go. I plan to finish a new piece today, Monday and Tuesday. It's home stretch time! I can now tell you that the show will be hanging from May 18th- September 6th. I still don't have a date for the opening though. Frustrating! Just keep you calendars clear from like May 18th-28th. Cool.

This is my buddy Elena Johnston. Check out her awesome art by clicking on her site in Fitzbomb Hearts.

Time to get busy,

My People Are Magic!

When I pick a portrait subject (those that I get to choose myself,) it's because that person has something. His or her quality/talent may not be discovered yet, but the sparkle is there. This could not be more true for Hilton Carter, one of my portrait subjects from fall 2009.

Hilton and his film Moth are going to Milan! Congratulations! Hard work does pay off. Your friends are proud.

New In-Progress Drawing: Jenny Andrzejewski

IMG_3334

Jenny A is the 12th piece out of 20 from the current series that I'm drawing for my May show at University of Baltimore.

The drawings are going well so far. It gets really intense when I'm on a deadline. Can I be famous yet? Not yet? Oh, ok. Back to work

Check Out Fresh Kill's New Video: NINE:FIFTEEN "Beautiful Too"

Here is the latest from my friend Hilton Carter and Fresh Kill. Check it. Go POC!!!

NINE:FIFTEEN "BEAUTIFUL TOO" from FRESH KILL on Vimeo.

The first of the trilogy between NINE:FIFTEEN and Hilton Carter, the idea for Beautiful Too started out with "The Character", alone in a room with a bottle of Jack and a dead bouquet of roses, but then quickly transformed into a heartbroken hoarder who has hit bottom. Missing his lost love, he becomes confined to his home with only his fond memories and large piles of clothes and trash that take on a life of their own.

The video stars Bisquite of NINE:FIFTEEN as "The Character' and Andrea Choe, of the group CASXIO, as the lost love. Andrea also played the roll of art director, puppet designer, and puppeteer.

Thanks to Mike Puretz, Mike Cruz, Dana Rodriguez and Matt Gerbasi.

What I'm Working On Now: Ed Gold Drawing

IMG_3331

SOLD

This is the drawing that I've been working on for the past two days. The pace slows when I have to fit the drawing around work (most of it is done between 1-3 in the afternoon and midnight-4am.)This is Ed Gold of the graphic design department at University of Baltimore. He saw my drawings at Shine Collective (check Shine in Fitzbomb Hearts!!!) and asked me to do the show that I'm working on now.

All that I can tell you guys right now is that all this work will be up in May. Could be the 1st. Could be the 31st. Will probably be somewhere in between. I'm just waiting for the word and I'll let you know!

Talk soon,

-Fitz
ps. I'd say, "TGIF!," but that really doesn't make a difference to me.
pps. On Sunday Drury Bynum is coming to my studio to shoot one of his amazing artist videos about moi!

Fitzbomb Search

6554134651494832292728232IMG_2596IMG_2603IMG_2602IMG_2628261982285qnjf5

So, you have that special someone who you like to stalk on the interweb? Fret no more. Now you can enter his or her name into Fitzbomb Search and if I blogged your true internet obsession (by name) all of his or her posts will magically appear! Dang, son! You can also use it to Fitzbomb yourself. It's like googling yourself, but with way less results.

Enjoy, but really, don't be a weirdo! I mean "stalk" in the least creepy of ways...
Ciao ciao for now,
-Fitz
